Why We Created the Zero-Risk Guarantee

The StumpBusters Zero-Risk Guarantee: a signed legal document handed to the homeowner before every job. stumpbustersllc.com 717-468-1978

Here’s something we’ve been thinking about for a while: insurance is the one part of this job you can’t inspect. You can see our equipment and our crew, but you have no way of knowing what’s behind us unless we show you.

Coverage also isn’t one thing. It has to be classified for the work actually being done, not just “landscaping.” The limits have to match the risk. And it has to be current, because a policy that was active last season isn’t automatically active today. None of that is visible from your driveway.

We wanted to take the guesswork out of it, for you and for us.

What the Zero-Risk Guarantee Is

Before we start any job, we hand you a signed legal document with one promise at the center:

If anyone gets hurt or anything gets damaged while we’re working on your property, that’s our responsibility to handle. Never yours.

We call it the StumpBusters Zero-Risk Guarantee™. It’s a real legal waiver, not a handshake, and you keep the signed copy. Show it to your spouse or hand it to your insurance agent if you want.

Here’s what it covers:

Our workers, our responsibility. If one of our crew gets injured on your property, our workers’ compensation insurance handles it. Your homeowner’s insurance stays out of it entirely.

Our equipment, our mess. If our grinder kicks a rock through your windshield or a limb clips your fence, we take care of it through our commercial general liability insurance. You don’t need to get your homeowner’s policy involved.

When we leave, we’re done. The guarantee covers what happens while we’re actively working. Once we drive away, clean break.

Why We Created It

Honestly, it came from flipping it around. If it were our yard, our family, and heavy equipment running forty feet from the house, what would we want to be holding before the work started? This is the answer we came up with.

We wrote a guide to how tree service insurance works, covering what general liability and workers’ compensation actually pay for and what Pennsylvania law requires. Worth a read if you want to understand the coverage behind the work.

We carry workers’ compensation (classified for tree care, not general landscaping), commercial general liability ($1M+ per occurrence), and commercial auto on every vehicle and piece of equipment. The guarantee is just our way of putting all of that in writing and handing it to you upfront, so there’s no question about where things stand.

What It Means On Your Job

Every job gets the same document and the same active coverage: workers’ compensation, commercial general liability, and commercial auto. There’s no small-job version.

Any time you want to see the Certificate of Insurance, just ask and we’ll have our carrier send it straight to you, not a photocopy out of our files.
