Tree & Shrub
Trimming

Light tree trimming, shrub and bush shaping, and full shrub or bush removal. We focus on the work we do best.

For major tree work or large branches over a structure, we'll connect you with a certified arborist we trust. Both of you win.

Focused
Scope

Shrub & Bush Trimming

Shape work, size reduction, deadwood removal, and seasonal maintenance trims. Hedges, foundation plantings, ornamental shrubs. Clean cuts, clean cleanup.

Shrub & Bush Removal

Full removal of overgrown, dead, or unwanted shrubs and bushes — root ball and all. Pairs naturally with our stump grinding service if there's a remaining woody base.

Light Tree Trimming

Smaller branches, low limbs, deadwood within reach from the ground or short ladder work. Trees you can prune without rigging or climbing gear. Clearing limbs that are sweeping the lawn or scraping a window — that scope.

Cleanup Included

Trimmings, branches, and removed shrubs hauled off-property as part of every job. Same standard as our stump grinding — when we leave, the pile leaves with us.

What We
Don't Do

We focus on the work we do best.

Some tree work needs climbing gear, rigging, certified arborist judgment, and equipment beyond what makes sense for the kind of jobs we do. We say no to those — and refer you to someone who says yes.

Yes — We Do This

In our scope:

  • Shrub and bush trimming, shaping, and seasonal maintenance
  • Full shrub and bush removal, including root ball
  • Light tree trimming reachable from ground or short ladder
  • Hedge maintenance and size reduction
  • Deadwood removal on smaller branches
  • Limb clearing along walkways, lawns, low windows
  • Cleanup and haul-away on every trim job
No — We Refer Out

Outside our scope:

  • Major tree removal, full take-downs
  • Large branches overhanging a house, garage, or structure
  • Anything requiring climbing, ropes, or rigging
  • Storm-damaged trees still standing or partially down
  • Trees near power lines or utility infrastructure
  • Crown reduction, structural pruning, or arborist-grade work on mature trees
→ The Arborist Referral

If your job's outside our scope, we'll connect you with the certified arborist we trust.

He sends stumps our way after his removals. We send tree work his way when it needs his crew. You get the right operator for the job, both of us stay in our lanes, and nobody gets in over their head on your property.

Call us first either way — if it's our work, we'll book it. If it isn't, we'll get you to the right phone number same day.

Specialists,
Not Generalists

Plenty of "we do it all" outfits will take on a 60-foot dead oak over your roof because the customer is on the phone and the truck has fuel. That's how branches end up through windshields and how nobody walks away happy when the job goes sideways.

We'd rather know our limits and have a trusted partner for bigger work than over-extend on your property. The trade-off: you might have to make two phone calls instead of one. The upside: the right person does each job, and the work gets done right.

Cleanup is included. Same standard as every other StumpBusters service — trimmings, branches, and removed shrubs leave with our truck. No piles left behind for you to deal with.

Trimming across Lancaster, Dauphin, Lebanon, and York counties.

Common
Questions

What's the cutoff between "light trimming" and "major tree work"?
Rule of thumb: if we can do it from the ground or a short stepladder with handheld equipment, it's our work. If it requires climbing gear, ropes, a bucket truck, or chainsaw work overhead, it's a job for the arborist we refer to. Honest answer when you call — we'll tell you which side of the line your job's on.
Can you handle hedge maintenance?
Yes — hedges, foundation plantings, formal shrubs, and mixed border maintenance all in scope. Seasonal trims, size reduction, and shape work.
Will you remove shrubs entirely?
Yes. Full shrub and bush removal including the root ball. If there's a substantial woody base left, we can pair it with a stump grind to clear the spot completely.
What about that big branch over my house?
That's outside our scope. We don't take on overhanging structural work — too much risk to your property and our crew. We'll connect you with the certified arborist we trust who handles that work daily. Call us first either way.
Who is the arborist you refer to?
A certified arborist we've worked with for years and trust to do right by our customers. He prefers to keep his contact off the public web — we'll connect you directly when you call. You get the same operator we'd send to our own family.
Is cleanup included?
Yes — every job includes haul-away of trimmings, branches, and removed plant material. Same standard as our stump grinding service. When we leave, the pile leaves with us.
How much does trimming cost?
Pricing depends on volume, scope, and access. Most residential trim jobs run $150–$400. Multi-shrub or full-property maintenance runs higher. Call with what you've got and we'll quote it.
Best time of year to trim shrubs?
Depends on the species. Most deciduous shrubs do well with late-winter or early-spring shaping before active growth. Spring-flowering shrubs (lilacs, forsythia, azaleas) prefer right after they bloom. Evergreens generally tolerate trimming through most of the growing season. We'll advise based on what you have.
